Rev Up for Spring

Spring has officially arrived, and for Corvette owners, that means it's time to get your baby ready for some serious cruising! As the Corvette Couple, we've been helping fellow Corvette enthusiasts keep their cars in top shape for over 30 years. In this blog post, we'll share some tips on how to get your Corvette ready for spring so you can enjoy the open road with confidence.

1. Oil Change and Filter

First things first: if you haven't done so already, it's time to change your Corvette's oil and filter. Over time, oil can break down and lose its ability to lubricate your engine properly. Changing your oil and filter is a relatively simple and inexpensive way to keep your engine running smoothly.

2. Check the Radiator

Your Corvette's radiator plays a crucial role in keeping your engine cool. Over time, debris can build up in the cooling Fins restricting air flow and Radiator effectiveness, so it's a good idea to check the condition of your radiator and coolant system. Corvettes are bottom feeders so lots of debris from small rocks, cigarette butts, leaves and even pet hair can cause a air flow restriction, causing your Corvette to run warm especially in stop and go traffic. Its also a good idea to look for any signs of leaks and corrosion, and make sure your coolant level is topped off. If you're not comfortable doing this yourself, bring your Corvette to a trusted mechanic who specializes in Corvettes.

3. Check Tire Dates, Air, and Tread

Your tires are your Corvette's only connection to the road, so it's important to make sure they're in good condition. Check the age of your tires and make sure they're not more than 5-6 years old. Check the air pressure and adjust as necessary, and inspect the tread depth to make sure it's still within safe limits. If your tires are due for replacement, we recommend investing in high-quality performance tires that are designed specifically for Corvettes.

4. Maintain Weather Stripping with Silicone

Over time, weather stripping can dry out and crack, which can lead to leaks and wind noise. To prevent this, we recommend using silicone-based products to maintain your Corvette's weather stripping. This will help keep it soft and pliable, which will reduce the likelihood of cracks forming.

5. Full Wash and Detail

Last but not least, give your Corvette a thorough wash and detail to get it looking its best for spring. Use high-quality car washing products and a soft sponge or mitt to avoid scratching the paint. Don't forget to clean the wheels and tires, and apply a coat of wax or sealant to protect the paint from the elements.

If you follow these tips, your Corvette should be ready for spring in no time!
