**Indy Motor Speedway Tour:** On the Fourth of July, we made our way to the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Our visit was more than just a tour; it was an immersive exploration of the speedway's iconic traditions. The Traditions exhibit at the museum was a treasure trove of knowledge, showcasing the rituals that have become synonymous with the Indianapolis 500. From the famous milk-drinking celebration to kissing the bricks, and even the emotional rendition of "Back Home Again in Indiana" and the grandeur of the Borg-Warner Trophy, we absorbed every aspect of the speedway's rich heritage.
But that's not all! We had the incredible opportunity to take a lap on the historic track itself, feeling the exhilaration and the echoes of countless racing legends who have conquered these hallowed grounds. As we crossed the start-finish line and posed for a picture at the iconic "Yard of Bricks," we couldn't help but feel the weight of history beneath our feet. It was a moment that will forever be etched in our memories.
**Historical Plant Stops in Muncie:** Our journey took a fascinating turn as we explored the historical plants in Muncie. One of the highlights was our visit to the Borg Warner plant, which opened its doors in 1909. We marveled at the site where the transmissions for Corvettes were produced from 1955 to 1963 and then again from 1975 to 1988. The Borg Warner plant represented the culmination of intricate craftsmanship and engineering, bringing these incredible machines to life.
Additionally, we discovered a now-vacant lot that was once home to the Muncie transmission plant. This plant played a pivotal role in Corvette history from late 1963 through 1974. Standing in the presence of both the vacant lot and the empty plant, we were reminded of the changes we have witnessed in 70 years of Corvette production. It was a powerful reminder of the evolution and progress that has shaped the Corvette into the iconic vehicle it is today.
